Military Draft System To Be Tested

The 2nd article said the equipment was 'routinely tested' but I was pretty sure the first article said it hadn't been tested since 1998. Maybe I read it wrong. Anyway, I don't think they'll bring it back either, but there sure has been a lot of speculation.

I have a huge amount of respect for our military and am very grateful to anyone who has served or is serving now. That said, whether or not anyone thinks I'm selfish for saying this, or that they think I'm saying it's ok for someone else to die as long as it's not MY son, etc etc etc and on and on..... I don't mind saying that I hope it never, EVER happens (draft). I would never discourage Corey from joining up, if that were *his* decision...at all. But I have to admit I wouldn't be happy about it...especially in these times where people are joining up and getting shipped overseas prettyyyyy quickly. Yeah, maybe it is just a typical "mom" response...not MY son...type thing or whatever, but I can't help feeling how I feel. The thought of Corey in the military terrifies me. I have 2 nephews..one has already done a year over there and may be going back soon (has been home a year now) and his brother, who has one year of school left first, just joined up. We are proud of them, but are constantly worried about Josh when he's there...the older one. I just don't know how I would handle knowing that my son was in harm's way all the time...my brother was a basket case while Josh was over there. KUDOS to the husbands, wives, kids, parents, etc. who do have to deal with that on a daily basis. That's a lot to have to handle. M.
