Hello everyone. I am a USC planning to petition my mother, who was recently widowed. I have problems with our paperwork, as her first name on my BC does not match her passport. She is currently here on a tourist visa, and I am thinking of adjusting her status. Would it be possible to go ahead and have a DNA test done on an accredited institution with USCIS?

Hi, glad I found someone who has the same issue as mine. My mother is currently in Dubai right now and carrying a passport (ROSEMELIE) with different name on her Birth certificate (ROSEMELIE). So what we did is to file a Name change/Correction in the Philippines, my sister was the one who processed it for her. Since all of us siblings has a mother's name which is PERLITA, we have to change her birth certificate and make it to PERLITA.

Now, since her birth certificate has changed to PERLITA, it is now different to what's in her PASSPORT. What we will do is to go to DFA and have it change/renewed and her PERLITA name will reflect on her PASSPORT with ROSEMELIE as other names used.

Hi TeacherMarites, and thank you so much for your reply.

My problem is that she is here in the US right now, and her PP bears the entry form ( I-94? I couldn't remember at the moment). That would be on her PP that bears a first name different from that of my BC.

To anyone who could help,

Would it be possible to go ahead and do a DNA test in a USCIS accredited facility?

I guess, since it's a bit complicated, I suggest that you call the Philippine Embassy coz they might know what to do since they are the ones who renews passport (in case they suggest updating it) or consult an immigration lawyer near your place ( it might charge you few dollars but hey its worth it).
