Administrative processing

Hi,

I applied for a US B1/B2 visa for myself and my wife yesterday at US consulate in Melbourne. I have a Pakistani passport.

The visa officer lady said that our visa is approved and that we'd get our passports in 5 days.

YET, I checked on https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspxand it says that our visa is undergoing administrative processing.

From what I know, AP takes much longer than 5 days. Should we expect to get the visa back soon?

A P can be as simple as the process of putting the visas in the passports or reviewing the entire case file. It sounds to me like standard practice for your embassy to need that time for the insertion of visas.

Sounds good, thanks. Just checked, my wife's status has changed to "Issued", though mine is still, "Administrative Processing".
