i-864 Retirement and International Jobs - What documentation do they go by?

Hi there,

My dad's wife is filling out the i-864a. She just retired in the middle of this year. Do I put her current individual income as what she earned according to her 2013 tax return (their jointly filed return), or her "income" post-retirement, which is a bit tricky. Do they just want what is on the tax form?

Same question is really for my husband. He just got a new job and it's in Australia. Do they want traceable income or are they concerned with what is going on now, a few weeks before we file this paperwork? What evidence do they consult?

Thanks!!
