Ready to submit NOA Readiness Form

Hi all,

we are DCF filing through London for CR1 and have all our documents ready for interview, have submitted DS-260, have the medical booked for next week so are basically ready to submit the Notification of Applicant Readiness Form.

The only problem is that we have an overseas trip booked in January! I don't really want to wait to submit the readiness form until we are back in mid January as that will put us back by 2 months but at the same time we are risking our interview being scheduled for while we are away or just before as I probably wouldn't have my passport back ready to travel.

I guess I have 3 questions:

1) Is it pretty easy to postpone your scheduled interview date in London? I have seen lots of posts for trying to bring it forward but I hope it is a bit easier to put it back?

2) If my interview were scheduled just before we went overseas, and we were (fingers crossed) approved, can you ask for your passport back on the day of the interview and then send it back in at a later date to have the visa put in it?

3) Does anyone know how productive the London office is over the Christmas / New Year period? Just wondering if they basically shut down for a couple of weeks and therefore the application takes longer?

Sorry, make that 4 questions!

4) If we were to submit the NOA Readiness Form and had heard nothing regarding an interview before we went away on the 4th January, how likely is it that an interview would be scheduled before we were back on the 16th January? What is the shortest time between interview letter and interview date?

Thanks in advance. I have found the forums so useful during the whole process so far.

1- Moving the date out shouldn't be too difficult.

2 -They take your passport at the interview. It is then delivered 10-14 days later via DX. (No you can't request your passport back)

3- They are closed for the major holidays and do tend to get backed up this time of year. They do not shutdown for any period of time.

4- Typically they will give a 2-3 week notice for interview dates.

1. Yes. Use the contact form.

2. Yes, you can ask for passports back.

3. Somewhat slower with staff off. Not shut down except Dec 25/26, Jan1.

4. Shortest-1-2 days with an expedite and request for anything available on short notice. Usually around 3 weeks from date of letter. Varies.

Send your Readiness Christmas Eve. Easiest without adding all the drama of rescheduling or sending passports later.
