NVC Lost AOS?

So, I'm just curious as to your thoughts on this.

Montreal Embassy requires electronic submissions of documents. We submitted our Affidavit of Support in late August, got confirmation of receipt on September 3rd with the usual "this will take us 60 days to look at it".

We get a checklist in late October saying:

"We received your Immigrant Visa Application: however, we have not received an Affidavit of Support form. You must submit the Affidavit of Support form before we can complete your case."

Called the NVC, they tell us that they have to put it up to a supervisor. Two weeks pass, so I call again. The supervisor found that they don't have our documents.

So I've resubmitted those documents, and again, they'll need the 60 days to look at them.

But now I've got this lingering fear. What went wrong last time? And how do I know it won't go wrong this time? If they could just tell me that they lost it, I'd laugh it off and just continue to wait patiently...but they're insisting that I never sent it, so I'm dying to know what how they think I obtained the confirmation of receipt from the 3rd.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Boggles the mind that they can't / won't admit to losing something, but it sounds to me as though they "lost" the email with the docs, or...because there are so many people handling these cases, it was accidently deleted or misplaced. I don't think they EVER admit to mistakes, even when it is blatantly obvious. If I were you, I would do like you say...laugh it off and resend the docs and wait - THIS TIME. Chances of this exact thing happening again are slim, but if it does, keep all correspondence and kick their butt! JMHO, of course!!

Good luck, keep us posted!! :)

Not the exact same situation, but related.

I got a checklist and responded to it the same day I received it. Didn't get a confirmation email from NVC, so started calling NVC almost daily. One operator said, "oh, we only give those email receipts for the first few times you submit something to the NVC, otherwise, we'd be in the business of just sending out receipt emails". When I asked another operator, a few days later, when I should call back if I haven't gotten a receipt email she said " we are so backlogged here, I couldn't even begin to tell you". In the end, the NVC send us an email saying that they received my checklist response, that they'd get back to me in 60+ days - and - here's the kicker: They said that they received my email 3 weeks after it was actually sent. I called to see if my scan date could reflect the actual receipt date, and it cannot.

I am envisioning staff have to wade through piles and piles of paper at the NVC...

Their most important job is of course keeping those piles separate and not losing stuff. Too much to hope for. <_<

They lost a notarized birth certificate of mine, necessitating getting another from a foreign country. Maybe part of why they've stopped demanding original civil documents.
