When to schedule interview - Frankfurt DCF

So Tuesday the last 14 documents (mostly I-864 stuff from Mom and Dad) are arriving via USPS Express. Once I have those I'll have everything from the required documents (including passport photos, etc.) and we're scheduling the medical Monday morning. So, once all that is gone...when can I schedule our interview?

They asked us for a priority date and I've read on here that they use that date to try and squeeze you in to their schedule for an interview, but on their IV checklist on Frankfurt's site it says I have to schedule the interview myself.

Who else did DCF as an IR-1 applicant? When do you know they have all your docs and are ready for you to come down there?

I'm asking myself exact the same question. Apparently we're at the same stage of the process as you guys. Our I-130 has been approved and we're about to send in all the required documents. We would like to set the interview for asap, but have no idea what's the earliest that one can actually request...

Hope you don't mind if I ask you a question: Are you guys having all the German documents (Führungszeugnis etc.) translated? The information provided says that all documents not in English or German must be accompanied by certified translations, according to which German documents should be fine. But while filing the I-130 petition at the consulate in Frankfurt, we also had one document in German (Meldebescheinung) and the immigration officer told us that all German documents have to be translated to English. He basically had us translate the document by ourselves and then sign a statement that we are fluent in both english and german and competent to translate... So now we're totally confused... Translate or not? And if yes then cerified translations or on our own? What did you guys do?

That's because the I-130 is reviewed by the USCIS and they require translations there. This stage we're at is the NVC (or for us DCF folk, just IV Unit) stage where they accept documents in the language of the country you filed in. Only exception is if you have entries on the Führungszeugnis. If yours is like my husband's (Keine Eintragung) then there's no translation needed.

I think you schedule the interview on the same website where you put your mailing address for the consulate.

They will write you an email asking you to book an appointment, once they received and looked at everything in packet3.

If anyone who already went through this is reading, please let us know how its done

It has only been a few months and I already forgot how it exactly works, LOL, it was kind of confusing, but once they have received and reviewed all the paperwork you get a letter, I think it stated in there what to do next, and shortly after that they sent me an email that I could go online and schedule the interview. (seeing that the visa, once issued, is valid for 6 months after the date you did your medical , they try to facilitate everybody ,that is why after they reviewed everything and you could have your interview, they want you to notify them when you are ready .....)

May I ask how soon you were able to book an interview compared to when you got the letter? I'm scared that there won't be any December slots at all by the time we get our Case Complete notice. I know they assign people according to their priority dates at NVC, but DCF seems to go differently.

it will show you all slots available, so if you have done your medical already you could even pick a slot that is available for that week. Of course all depends on the other documents, as soon as you send those in it won't be long before they will let you know that you are ready for scheduling an interview.

Make sure you have all the documents, send them out as soon as you have it complete and keep your fingers crossed :-)

Yeahhhh we're scheduling the medical tomorrow morning for sometime in the next couple weeks, so I could be stupid and schedule an interview early, but I've gone through the stress of having to reschedule an interview at Frankfurt...much easier said than done.

Just praying to God that we don't get a dumb checklist on our I-864's.

just double check on the I-864 that you have it all in there and if afraid for any confusion make a cover letter with it, we had some income (and proof of it) which is tax free and not on our tax transcripts, so although it was on the 864 we explained it in the cover letter.

good luck! If you are not too far from Frankfurt you can just walk in for the medical on certain days, they just need your casenumber :-)

The only confusion there could possibly be on our I-864's was for me not having tax returns due to no income for three years, but I attached a written explanation for that. And my parents don't get W-2s since they own their own company and they also attached a statement from the IRS website explaining their situation.

I know I shouldn't worry, especially since it isn't NVC reviewing our AOS's, but the IV unit...they probably don't send out nearly as many dumb checklists.

Ok, so I just booked an interview today. They had open slots for the 18th, 19th and the 20th, and then there were more for the other week.

Basically, you'll get an email from them, saying all your documents are ok and that you're clear to book an interview. So you'll go over to the website, and request an interview.

They will email you again saying that you are allowed to book it, so you'll have to log in again in the website, and it'll display a calendar from which you'll be able to choose.

Wow, I can see from your timeline that they only took a few days to respond to your IV packet being sent. Makes me feel more confident I might be able to squeeze myself in there somewhere. My parents' documents will be arriving tomorrow in the mail and I already have all my stuff sorted out and stapled together. This junk is GONE tomorrow, baby!

I hope someone can correct me here, but even when you don't have an income you need to do your income tax, kind of proof for them that you don't owe anything. Did you still do your income tax?
