Interesting that your undergrad that appears to have written the piece quotes CPS Watch - a group that would appear to be of rather questionable nature. The links to the quoted work do not get you to any work that was supposedly quoted either. Then said undergrad relies on whatever source the TBC Chronicles are - the links provided in the piece also don't work so there's no telling what bits and pieces where extracted from what exactly - or if these quotations actually exist. Shoddy work, really.

There are plenty of cases were parents were wrongfully accused of abusing their children because they gave them a spanking or the kid is prone to accidents.

I'm not saying that mistakes don't happen but to make a statement that parents can no longer discipline their children is a bit dramatic. As I have said repeatedly, I discipline my child and have no fear of ever becoming a target of the CPS. None of my friends have any such fears and they are doing great jobs parenting their kids. Could CPS improve? Yes. Should they improve? Absolutely. Are there too many unfit parents and too many abused children out there? You betcha!

Absolutely not. It is insane to think that teachers should carry firearms to school. As for the undisciplined kids? Hold their parents accountable - it's their responsibility.
