Concern about Fiancé's Signature On Signature Documents

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently re-checking everything for the I-I129F package and exchanging back and forth with my fiancé on her thoughts for every aspect of the package, but she has decided to have her own style for her signature, which doesn't look anything like her declared English spelling of her name (in fact, I'm not sure what it says and it's not in Chinese either). She would like to have this applicable once she comes to the States, but I worry this might create confusion and potentially issues at least initially on the review process. Am I being paranoid? I do not want to stifle creativity, but I am still worried.

If she use that signature as her legal signature in her country then it's fine. Nothing to worry about.

The only time that I ever had an issue with my signature was at the DMV. Before I became a notary public, I didn't use my middle initial in my signature and never signed my name with it. When I went to renew my DL, they forced me to use my middle initial even though that's not how I sign. I didn't want to argue so I just signed how they wanted it.

However, a signature is a signature. No one can force you how to sign your name. If you feel like having a fancy scribble for your signature, that's your signature and no one can question it. She wouldn't have issues as long as she uses that signature in all her legal docs.

For me, I didn't want to argue at 8AM in the morning with a stupid DMV rep while it was below freezing outside, otherwise I would have signed my name how I pleased. Your fiancee has nothing to worry about, good luck.

I think it's a bit of paranoia.

In my opinion that's what signature is supposed to be.

I've never heard of a formal guidelines on how a signature should.

That's why they also require printed name.

I highly doubt that they will be judging her signature for readability or closeness to her English spelled name.

I have a Korean friend, who continues to use his Korean character signature in US

after he immigrated here.

Just make sure she is consistent in writing the same signature in all her documents.
