Hi all,

I found this thread to be very helpful.

I have one question regarding I-134.

My fiancee is medical student and she gets loan in her bank, can we still show that as my sponsor. The amount she gets is enough to cover 125% of household income.

Thank you for your reply

I have seen you ask this 3-4 times. You can always try at the London embassy and see what happens. They are flexible and may realize she has a bright career as a doctor. But if she just started school, then she's a ways off from making money. AND right after you marry, she has to do a new affidavit of support with very strict rules and no flexible consideration. Then what?

The affidavit of support is about her income, salary, or assets. Borrowed money is none of those, is it? It is somebody else's money. So I would not consider that income. Have you read the I-134 and considered how it would be filled out?

I am employed with ________________ and earn ________

I have on deposit in the bank ________

I have stocks and bonds worth_________

I have real estate valued at _________

Where does 'student loan' fit into that form? If you think about it she is actually not earning a penny and has a big debt. How about you? Do you have any cash saved up to add?
