06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

The NVC shouldn't charge you a fee. I'm not sure if they have changed the process. You pay the $160 fee at any banco popular and make sure you get the receipt and verify the info on it.

Then you have to pay the remaining amount ($105) at the embassy. I think these may be new amounts, but I don't remember how much we paid because this was 3 years ago.

Did you receive instructions from the embassy and/or the NVC? If so do they say that you have to pay the fees to the NVC. I don't remember paying a fee to the NVC though, so follow whatever the instructions say to pay.

This does not constitute legal advice.

I wonder why they stopped taking the fee from banco popular? If that's the case then OP you have to pay the $265 at the embassy. I would contact them or the NVC to find out what the exact fee is unless it says it on the instructions. They are always changing things up and as a result it makes it harder for people to get good advice.

there is no longer at fee at Banco Popular! There is a fee at the Embassy but dont know the amount.

Odd, the US Consulate in Santo Domingo's website updated their website showing the new fee to be paid at the Consulate ($105) and it still says $160 at Banco Popular. If you got your appointment letter then the instructions will tell you exactly what to do (how much and where).

Some employees at the Banco Popular don't have the US Consulate's information clear, (dependiendo la sucursal)...I went to a small one and I asked them some questions about the visa fees and 3 employees gave me 3 different explanations, I waited almost 40 minutes for them to figure out what they had in their computer ...I paid 160 plus 16 dollars for something else that I still don't know. I knew that some VJs mentioned 2 receipts, but other VJs that had their interview like a week later from mine, didn't pay the $16 (or $15? don't remember now)..so yes it is confusing.

Check their website here, and if you still in doubt, call them and be sure.

For K1 there is still a fee at Banco Popular, I think you may actually need 2 receipts from Banco Popular. Ask someone on here that had there K1 interview recently.

You just need to pay the $160us fee at any Banco Popular. Take your Visa Appointment Letter (inside Packet 4) and get your receipt after paying to take to your interview.

Pay the $105us fee at the Consulate on the day of your interview.
