Hi dalegg,

It's Kimi who is asking this question. I believe that he provided them with 1040 and W2. It sounds like they feel that the income was not sufficient. I am just guessing from reading all the other threads.

Kimi, can you clarify your situation?

Tony

Yes, I know that. I was wondering since you had a recent interview also if they had changed their requirements or if this was just something that comes up as a normal part of A.R now. When my wife had her interview, they asked for 1040s and W-2s. Are they always asking form these transcripts now?

I submitted my 2005 1040 and an employment letter for 2006. My income for 2005 was low and I did not have a W2 since my income came from other sources for 2005. However, I showed that I own a house with a good size equity along with plenty of savings, mutuals, and life insurance. So I am not sure which of these items got me over the hump.

Dalegg, I don't think they changed their procedure recently. I think we just don't understand their metrics.

Hi Kimi,

A few things that are different in my case: my fiance submitted her bank verification of her own funds which is substantial in the Vietnamese standard, but they did not keep her statement, however, she showed that she worked for an American insurance company for 5 years and currently with a British insurance company; which means she can continue her same line of work quite easily and quickly in the states if she wishes. I don't know if these factors would have made a difference or not.

I just don't understand their financial metrics at all.

To me a 1722 means a transcript of tax returns of the past 3 or several years, and form 4506 requests the actual copy of the tax return for 1 or multiple years. So why was your 1040 for 2005 not sufficient? Why do they want to see other years? Maybe some other members can shed some lights on this situation. I am stumped.

Besides, the new rule only requires the last year's tax return. It's quite odd.

Dear Kimi,

The requirement and instruction were in Packet 4, Kevin used to upload for your reference, I don't know if you read it yet.

They said about the form W2 in the instruction.

OK regarding the IRS1722, The IRS no longer calls that form 1722. However if you call them and wait long enough while on hold you will be able to speak with a person and tell them that you need a history of you IRS statements and they will ask you for what year, if you want your 2006 you must had already process your tax’s six weeks in advance in order to get it. It takes six weeks to process your 2006 clams. I know sometimes it is hard and confusing working with there unjustified and arrogant demands but just hang in there and good luck to all. Kimi,

I know what you must be going through, stay focused please. Just call the IRS and request your tax transcript for 2005. It took ours about 2 weeks to get to me. First and foremost, get the consulate what they need.

It seems they are nickel and diming you, but just play the game and everything will turn out. I don't think it is your income amount they are caring about, I think you are focusing on that too much...I think it is as simple as getting them the transcript that they want.

If you want to be a bit pro-active, also request your transcript for 2004 as well.

STAY FOCUSED!!! We are here for you.
