Hi, I searched but couldn't find a definitive answer.

I am filling out the N-400 based on 3+ years of marriage while having a green card. One of the requirements is proof of citizenship of my spouse. His passport is currently expired. Can this still be used, or will we need something additional?

Thank you

I believe you can use an expired passport as long as it has not been expired for more than 10 years (you might check that, but I seem to remember that that is the case). The fact that he qualified for and was issued a US passport does still prove he is a USC, however; it cannot be expired for a long period. Otherwise use his US birth certificate or naturalization certificate which ever applies.

Good luck,

Dave
