If you have a namesake you'll need to pick up the clearance the following day. I don't know what the new procedure is with the online application but it's typically a whole day event because of the long lines. It also depends which office you'll get your clearance from. I know in QC they limit the number of application forms they give out and those run out before the counters even open.

Wow i hope i can do that one too. But i'm not sure if they have quota and i think they have a new procedure that needs to apply online.

I think you need to arrange to spend 2 days at SLEC...and then a 3rd day at NBI...don't push it...you'll only be disappointed. You know how things work in the PI...hurry up and WAIT!

Agree with Ed and Gina,

You need at least 3 days to complete both medical and nbi.

For those who recently got their nbi clearance, how was it and what are the steps?

I am a bit concern because i need to take 2 days leave for my medical and 1 day for nbi. Is there a chance that i have my 2nd day of medical in the morning and get nbi clearance in the afternoon?

Go register online first. Key in all the info needed and make sure to print it, go to any NBI branch and they would tell you to get a number for step 2 which is the payment.

g. NBI CLEARANCE (Green Form). Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (for travel abroad purposes) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicants current name, birth certificate name, maiden name and any aliases or nicknames used, including different spellings you have used of those names. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of "No criminal record" or "No pending case". For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is valid for one (1) year from the date it was issued.

The NBI website is

http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

Also, there is a good article here:

Be sure to.read some of the replays at the end of the article as they will give you real world experienced from others.

We just registered online. For some reason, after the application is processed, the husband's family name part comes out blank. We thought we forgot to fill it up so we did it again. Second time, the application shows the husband's family name section blank again. I guess it's ok to write it down instead right?

When I filled it out online, the field was not even on the website. It since showed up. Didn't pay attention if it printed or not. Still getting bugs out of the system I guess.

Don't know if it will show up on the printed nbi if its not on the print out. Might have made it to the database, but just not printed. They don't enter anything if you take in the online registration.

We went to Robinson's in ermita to do our clearance. If you have a same name, or hit, its a 5 day wait. Took about half a day to submit the form, once online and once filled out there. No difference for priority, still have to wait till whatever hour they tell you to come back, then wait about another hour while they finish the ones that were there the hour before(bogus if you ask me).

We couldn't get the first one, flew back to Mindanao before it was released. When we went back for the medical and interview a couple months later, we took the receipt and they gave it to us then. The second one, we needed for the 221g, and were flying out before it would be released. Went to the main nbi office and explained the situation, was able to get it that afternoon (could have gotten it right away, but power was out. Couldn't print.)

In theory, we've had our last dealing with the wonderful process that is the nbi clearance. Thank goodness.
