US Islamabad situation

So as everyone know Rawalpindi/Islamabad has been closed for about 2 weeks now. Containers are placed to block roads preventing people from entering/exiting any cities. My wife hasn't been able to go to her medical exam. It has been canceled twice due to road closure. Just wanted to see how is everyone else holding up. Has embassy called/informed any of you guys to figure out what will happen?

I had an interview scheduled for this morning, the embassy called and cancelled it on friday.

It's a horrible situation to be in, so close yet so far.

I have not yet been assigned a new interview date. I hope it's not too many days away due to the backlog because of all this.

Just back to the waiting game now.

:clock:

What is your interview date?

Anyone know if the Tuesday interviews were postponed as well?

Hopefully the embassy isn't closed tomorrow as well, right?

I am lucky that I had my interview on 12th august, containers were being placed that time, I had a flight back that night and faced no difficulty reaching airport.

I think they going to resume tomorrow.

Nope.. I have not heard from them yet.

I called them a couple of times, but the guy always just says that they'll contact me when they reschedule my interview.

By the way, the website now has this notice up as well:

Due to the protests in Islamabad, the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy will be unable to provide services on Thursday, August 21. We will contact customers to reschedule their appointments. Thank you for your understanding."

I called (051)2080000

Got it off of this page: http://islamabad.usembassy.gov/contact.html

But, note that the guy who picks up is really not very helpful, and doesn't have much patience. He's been rude to be one time, and just hung up on me after he was done giving me his spiel the second.
