Hello,

I appreciate all of the useful information I've found on this site. I have a question about how to fill out the address sections on the I-130. I know this seems basic, but even the sample form on this site is inconsistent. I'd rather be safe than sorry! :)

Question 2: For my address, should I put both my state and address here (e.g., VA/USA), or just the state, leaving out country (e.g., VA). How about the address for my Canadian spouse: would it be AB/Canada, or just Canada?

Question 3: same thing, but for Place of Birth: AB/Canada, or just Canada?

I should note also that there is not enough room on the electronic version of the for to put both city and country.

Thanks so much!

Kevin

For your address, it's just city and state, they already know which states we have lol. For your spouse, city and country, if you don't have room for the province. On the second page there is a part that has more space to write it out, so don't worry about the first part. The important address is yours, because you will be receiving the NOA's.

You should put the state. For both. The Canadian provinces all have two letter shortened versions just like the US that the US govt understands.

We put down AB Canada for my State/Country

Which question are you saying doesn't have enough room???

Thanks for the reply. We realized last night that the PDF actually has tooltips over the field, and for these particular fields it reads "...state or country". Definitely helped to clear things up.

The State/Country field isn't long enough to hold both state and country if you're spelling out the state (I saw other examples on the forums where the state in question wasn't abbreviated like in the US or Canada). Anyway, see my previous reply--I think we're OK for now. Thanks!

No but for Canada and the USA it works.

Also if there isn't enough room that's why you add a piece of paper with the entire address as per the I-130 instructions.
