I'm a canadian citizen and my wife is a US citizen. Been married for 3.5 years, married in the US, then moved to canada almost immediately after. Now we're looking at moving back.

I've done a lot of research on this in the past month but have a few questions for you guys. Was wondering if you think it's better to file the I-130 ASAP or wait? We're looking at moving next spring, possibly feb or march of next year. Hopefully will be approved by then. Should we file right away, or wait? Once the I-130 is approved can we wait a few months before continuing with the process if we need to?

Also, have some issues on domicile. I know it's required for my wife. She's a PR of canada, lives and works here now. Before moving she just lived with her parents. She has a voters card which she got in 2012 with her florida parents address on it. Would this be enough with a letter from her mom stating that we're going to stay with them? Also we'll possibly use some documents mailed to that address with my spouses name on it to prove. Or would it just be better to sign a lease for an apartment and use that? We really don't want to be separated at all. Her uncle is going to be a joint sponsor, so income isn't an issue.

Any info anyone could provide that may help would be great. Thanks a lot!!!

Welcome

You should read the guides at the top of the page. After that you will know whether you should file now or wait.

They are extremely helpful.

This process is unpredictable right now. You would prob not even be done by the spring the way things are back logged right now but on the other hand you could be if they speed up. Lol. This is a marathon and you will need to have a lot of patience and faith.

I'm not sure about proving domicile but you put that into the search bar many thread will come up.
