You don't really believe a job is more secure then cash in the bank?

One does not need to be working to meet the income requirements for the embassy. They just need documentation showing this income.

Yes.. You answered my questions a lot of times.. But you kept on saying that we need co sponsor which we don't have. And you always say that he needs to work which is not possible.. So I've been confused all my life.. Hahaha.. Joke.. I don't remember but I think he has $200+K in his bank..

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's not the Philippines that wants to see your fiancé employment and income, it's the U.S. gov't. The purpose is the U.S. gov't wants to make sure you have someone to support you so you don't end up on our welfare system or end up in an impoverished state. So they need to know that your fiancé has a way to support you long term, or has a co-sponsor to guarantee your support if your fiancé can't for some reason.

He could have a lot of money in the bank today, but it could be gone tomorrow... a steady paycheck is more secure and reassuring to the U.S. gov't.

It sounds like to me that a co-sponsor might be your best bet.

Well I'm asking because we don't have available co sponsor..

No I do not say he needs to work, in fact I said that in my previous posting to you in the first sentence and have stated that in other posts as well. I know a variety of people who do not work, me being one, that have income to meet the poverty guidelines and the visa was approved by the embassy.

The embassy wants assurances that you will not become a public charge, that support evidence has to meet their requirements. What the embassy will be looking for is "adequate income" to meet the poverty guidelines.

I understand your concern and there are no easy answers for you. I would be extremely happy for you if the embassy were happy with just your fiance's assets in the bank.

If you aren't working, how did you support the application? And what are the papers your fiancée sent at the embassy?

There are many forms of income without being employed; benefit statements from pensions, etc., interest/dividends statements, payments from a trust. The interest/dividend statements are the only part that may apply with your fiance's assets, unless the money was put in a trust for him and he receives payments.

what about the interest of his money at the bank? is it possible if we'll use it as affidavit of support?

The income required varies with the number of dependents, for two people the 125% from the I-864P is $19,662. It doesn't matter if it comes from employment, interest or whatever just so it is a documented source.
