Why even pretend there's a legal process involved?

New numbers released by the House Judiciary Committee show the “vast majority” of unaccompanied minors seeking asylum are granted it before even appearing before a judge.“Information from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that shows 65 percent of unaccompanied alien minors’ asylum applications have been immediately approved by asylum officers in Fiscal Year 2014,” says a Judiciary Committee statement. “And this is just the first bite of the apple. Many more cases can be approved later. Where an asylum officer does not approve the application, it is then referred to an immigration judge where the applicant can try again. If that fails, they can continue to appeal their case.”

The Judiciary Committee says asylum approval rates have “increased dramatically” under the Obama administration. Overall, according to the committee statement, “Approval rates by asylum officers have increased from 28 percent in 2007 to 46 percent in 2013 and approval rates by immigration judges in affirmative cases have increased from 51 percent in 2007 to 74 percent in 2013.” And that does not count appeals.

“Once individuals are granted asylum,” the report notes, “they have access to all major federal welfare programs.”

Pretend? There is a legal process. You may not like how it is working out for these children, you are free not to approve of it but even some republicans are quite happy to see children being treated differently to adults in this scenario. I am sure all these children are budding democrats, fresh from the democrat trees of south America and they are a real danger to the American way of life. You should try reading decent sources of information for a change. Try The Economist for example, yeah, you have to pay to read it, it's not free, but you know, you do get what you pay for here in the US ;)

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

If you want to know why these kids are not being deported and why we continue to approved requests for asylum, here is the origin of the kerfuffle. However, for the sake of trolling expediency, you must demonstrated unprecedented levels of feigned outrage and pretend this only began to happen in 2009.

The William Wilberforce Traffick Victims Protection Act of 2008, signed into law by George W. Bush, prevents the deportation of unaccompanied minors back to Central America.

It is an executive issue they do what they are told to do, there is a lot of latitude in the process.

What I do not understand is why the double standard with Mexicans, why do they not have access to such approval rates, or do they?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
