Hi all, I'm asking for a friend.........does it matter if your home country passport is expired at the time of your naturalization interview?

They will have their naturalization interview soon, but their passport from Egypt is expired. They've been here 4 years and never renewed it or used it since they've been here.

Thanks everyone!

Looks like I may have found the answer to my own question from older threads, sorry, should have looked more first!

Thanks anyway, everyone :star:

p.s. (the answer is 'no', home country passport doesn't need to be renewed for naturalization purposes)

When I went to my interview for naturalization the officer only asked me for my green card and my state ID...so the answer is no...and when I went to my oath ceremony, I asked if I should return my passport and the officer said I should keep it as a SOUVENIR... :)
