Hi,

So we're already along with our VISA process, and I, the U.S. citizen submitted the K1-Visa Application package (and had it approved about a month ago.) We received a I-797, NOTICE OF ACTION, and it stated that it forwarded the appropriate information to the Canadian embassy for my fiancee to go in for interviews etc. I noticed that this I-797 says

Notice Type: Approval Notice
Valid from 4/26/2014 to 8/25/2014

Now, we have already received a request of documents from the Canadian embassy which is fine, but I'm wondering what relevance the August 25th, 2014 expiration date has? What do we have to do by that date? Based on what I'm reading it's simply the time we have to respond to the Canadian embassy to set up interviews? That's how long the American "approval" is valid for?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks guys

If your petition expires before your interview it will simply be extended by the Consular Officer - it's a non-issue.
