Question about interview

First of all, I'd like to say hello to everyone and that I'm really glad that this site exists. I've been lurking around here for awhile now, gleaning information here and there.

I have a question about the interview at the Montreal consulate which I've just scheduled. I am Canadian and I was wondering if my American fiance can attend the interview with me at the Montreal consulate.

In the Packet 4 email I recieved from the consulate, it states that a U.S. citizen may accompany you to the appointment, but, on the site where you schedule the interview, it says that only Interpretors and parents of minor children can attend.

I'm super nervous and would feel SOOOO much better knowing that my fiance could come with me.

I've heard that sometimes they allow your fiance to be present because they can tell whether or not your relationship is genuine. I guess it's up to the discretion of the person interviewing you.

Good luck! I am also going to have my interview at the Montreal consulate... no interview date yet and no NOA2 yet.. still waiting since February. When did you start this whole process? Did it take long for you to get an interview date? Were you processed at the Texas Center or California Center?

Thanks!

My fiance says that we were processed at the California centre. We started this about 5 months ago. We started the process at the end of December. At the beginning of April I received a letter saying that I could fill out the DS-160 which I submitted last week along with the checklist, the bigraphic information page on my passport, and the DS-160 confirmation page. Within a couple of days I recieved the Packet 4 email saying that I could schedule my appointment, which I did today. The earliest interviews were available in only 34 days, but my fiance and I needed a bit more time so I can have my medical and stuff. Good luck in your interview as well!

We just had our interview on May 30th in Montreal and I (the American wife) accompanied my husband. There were no issues with me being there. Just of course make sure your fiance has his/her passport of course. Good luck :)

I also saw other K-1 couples there with no issues.

The US citizen is always allowed to enter the US Consulate so can accompany his/her fiancee to the Consulate. Montreal has always been very decent about fiances also attending the interview. Some adjudicators will allow it and some won't. So, your fiance is definitely allowed to accompany you and there is a good chance he will be allowed to sit in on the interview as well, but if not, he will be waiting in the waiting room for you when it is over. He just needs to make sure he can prove he is a US citizen to enter the Consulate.

Good luck at the interview - I suspect you will find it somewhat anti-climatic after all the worry and concern. :)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
