Hello everyone,

my husband and I are both living in Canada but he is American. We are applying for a green card. We are ready to send out i-130 package in and just wanted to be sure we have everything we need:

-cover letter

-I-130

-$420 cheque

-US citizen birth certificate and passport

-Canadian citizen's birth certificate and passport

-marriage certificate

-husband's divorce document

-g-325 for both of us

-passport photos for both of us

-joint lease

-joint bank account proof

-photo evidence

-affidavits and letters from parents

-g-1145

Am I forgetting anything? Also, does the marriage certificate have to be a certified copy? Does anything here have to a certified copy or notarized?

Thanks!

Right now you're not applying for anything. He is sending a petition to give you the ability to apply for a visa.

Now to your list

Hello everyone,

my husband and I are both living in Canada but he is American. We are applying for a green card. We are ready to send out i-130 package in and just wanted to be sure we have everything we need:

-cover letter

-I-130

-$420 cheque (please make sure it's from a US bank account or that it's a US money order.)

-US citizen birth certificate and passport (send either the birth certificate photocopy OR the entire passport photocopy, not both)

-Canadian citizen's birth certificate and passport not required

-marriage certificate photocopy

-husband's divorce document photocopy

-g-325a for both of us

-passport photos for both of us

-joint lease

-joint bank account proof

-photo evidence

-affidavits and letters from parents

-g-1145 (put on top of EVERYTHING including the check)

Am I forgetting anything? Also, does the marriage certificate have to be a certified copy? Does anything here have to a certified copy or notarized?

Thanks!

Send photocopies NOT original documents (ie: birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce decree...) Nothing has to be certified copies or notarized but many people like to get the affiadvits notarized. They carry very little weight however and majority of your evidence is coming from the joint lease and bank account. You could also add evidence to show you do both live at the same address, joint insurance, joint bills etc... Even photos do not have to be originals. You an print out 2-6 per sheet of paper and label them. Saves weight in the shipping.
