So you're saying the five released Taliban captains aren't dangerous, even though all involved say they are, and they've even made threats already since their release? You seriously don't think the islamofascists' han hast been substantially improved by this "bargain"? The preznit has absolutely 'furthered their cause'.

And that aside, how can you make the claim that leaving Congress out of the loop isn't both illegal and un-American? Whether you like Diane Feinstein or not, she's assumed to be trustworthy, as she's head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, so hinting that she might have leaked info about the deal if she'd known is simply outrageous.

This thread is a real eye opener. It's amazing to me that there's folks out there that don't see anything wrong with this. They'll blindly support Obama no matter what he does. I'd bet they'd support him if he decided to abolish the military entirely.

+1 I used to blame Obama entirely for all the things he's "slipping past" the country, but now I'm concerned for the country that we have the kind of electorate that could look on what he's done and show any kind of approval whatsoever for all his lawless actions.

Please explain how running guns to Mexican drug cartels can possibly be seen as being "for the greater good"? Or using the IRS to limit political speech of "enemies" (or at the very least, covering up the IRS' actions in this)? Or making "recess appointments" of your cronies to the NLRB while Congress is actually still in session? Or releasing 5 Gitmo lowlifes his own administration deemed "too dangerous to release" back onto the battlefield? I could go on and on (but please don't make me). I'd love to hear how these actions of this preznit could possible be "for the greater good".

Let's say these Taliban commanders finish their year long paid vacation in Qatar, and then go back to Afghanistan and start blowing up girl's schools and they kill 100s of them. Is that for the greater good? What if they mastermind a suicide bombing that kills 5 U.S. soldiers. Is that for the greater good?

Thanks for making my point. He had information that these guys were high level Taliban Commanders, responsible for a lot of deaths, yet Obama still approved the exchange. That's what makes this whole thing even more shocking.

Which is quite reassuring when you realize the motley crew rarely stops to think, most of their reactions being Pavlovian or knee jerk, at best. It would be different were they able to articulate their thoughts intelligently.
