Hi everyone,

I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that our NOA2 was approved on 05/19 - 11 days post NOA1 (with CSC) :dancing: :joy:. Concurrently, I’ve just learned that mail is not being delivered to the mailing address we provided on our I-129F application (we are using a friend’s address. He lives in a new complex and the post office is not delivering mail to the complex because it claims the City’s building dept has not notified USPS that new units have been occupied).

To make a long story short, we’ll have to use a different address until this issue with USPS is resolved. We will not be able to access the NOA2 that was mailed on 05/19 and USCIS is saying we have to wait 30 days before we can request that another copy of NOA2 be delivered to a new address.

Should we even bother trying to get a reprint of the NOA2 in 30 days - will we need the NOA2 hard copy for anything?

As our application package will take at least 10 days to arrive at NVC, do we just need to ask for the address change when NVC confirms that it has assigned a case #? Anything I’ve left out?

Any comments from others who’ve gone through a similar process would be appreciated – just want to make sure that there aren’t complications down the road that we’re unaware off due to this address change.

9/05/2014 - Married

09/12/2014 - AOS filed

09/16/2014 - NOA1 received

09/29/2014 - Biometrics (walk-in) (appointment was 10/10/2014)

Yes, you will need the NOA 2 hard copy, come AOS (adjustment of status) time after your fiance arrives in US and you guys got married.

After NOA 2, there will be another mail from NVC. Is there any other way that the original address be still good like using an option of USPS office pick-up?

Hi sweet cakes, thanks for responding! One thing I'm learning as we navigate this process is not to make assumptions. I was so tempted to just forget about requesting another NOA2. So glad I posted this question as I had no idea that we'd need the NOA2 later! I'm still navigating the Affidavit of Support and other requirements for the interview so I haven't started looking into AOS.

A USPS pick-up would have been the ideal solution but nobody at the complex seems to know what's happening to the mail. My understanding is the local USPS that should have been delivering the mail has been uncoorporative so far. I suspect the mail is being returned i.e. sent back as undeliverable. Had no luck with getting through to a live person at the local USPS on the phone today. Will try again tomorrow and try to find out what they do with a large volume of mail for an unlisted complex (on the USPS database). If that doesn't pan out, I'll request another NOA in 30 days.
