Month to month on our lease

Hi everyone!

Hubby and I are getting ready to file our I-751, and we realized that with our lease we have a slight problem. We've lived in the same apartment for the past two and a half years, and at the time of our initial interview for AOS we had a n extended one year lease agreement. Since then, we've been month to month on the lease, and have no paperwork as such to show current lease on the apartment. Our landlords have written a testimonial for us, saying we're happily married and very good tenants etc. Is that enough? Or do we need to have our landlords come up with a month to month agreement for us?

Any help would be really appreciated! By gosh, this filing thing gets me so nervous!!

Lisa,

You do not need to show a lease. You need to show that you have a bona fide marriage. That can be done without a lease.

Thanks Yodrak,

I guess I was worried because on the guide to included materials proving our bona fide marriage, the lease was the first thing that came up. We have half a dozen flight intineraries from the past two years, tons of photos, letters, bills in both our names, five certified testimonies from friends, insurance and everything else you could think of. THe only thing we didn't have was the up to date lease. Maybe we should just include the letter from our landlord testifying to our residence there, maybe we don't need the actual lease?

Lisa,
