need advice on missing(?) case files

Interview didn't go thru as MNL embassy claims they don't have the physical case files. Called NVC last night to reconfirm and they said they sent it out on 04/17 and the NVC person told me the USEM in MNL confirmed receiving it. I was also checking CEAC website every day last month, it went from 'NVC' to 'in-transit' and finally 'ready' from 04/17-04/21.

I called the embassy IV department(301-2000) right after and they gave me the same response. "We don't have your physical case file, call again some other day".

Is there anything else I can do to have them 'locate' our files?

I appreciate any tips anyone can provide. Thanks.

It usually takes a couple weeks minimum for the embassy to receive the case file, then they still need to do the prep work so it is ready for the interview. Right now with all the expedites things are very backed up at USEM... I would say grab another interview date further out then every few days give a call to verify the file is there.

Rule of thumb is to schedule the interview at least a month out from when NVC sent the file to USEM.

Agreed that it may take a while for USEM to sort and confirm that your physical files have been received. I'm sorry, but I don't have much to advise but to keep calling them for updates on your physical files.

Let me just check if I understood your situation clearly though: you have paid for the visa application and then have an interview appointment date but on the date of interview, was turned away because your physical file is not there?

Yes that's what happened with the exception that it's an F2A so there was no visa application payment done locally.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't realize that the CEAC status 'Ready' didn't really mean it was ready for interview. Is there another keyword or status I should be looking for (Perhaps an new status updated date)? Or is calling them my only option at this point?

Yes that's what happened with the exception that it's an F2A so there was no visa application payment done locally.
