Hello All,

My wife, who is the beneficiary / principal applicant, has submitted the DS 260 form 2 days back after having paid the IV Processing Fees & the AOS fees. With regard to providing the supporting documents to NVC for the DS 260, please advise on my following doubts:-

1) How much time do I have to provide NVC with the supporting documents now that we have submitted the online DS 260?

2) My wife has chosen me as her agent in Form DS 261, so who will now get the IV package? Is it me in US or my wife in India?

I am really looking forward to your advice on these queries. Please help!

You have upto a year to provide documents but you dont have to wait a month. You can send them as soon as you have them.

Both of you will get emails of IV package.

Hi Gaurav: Once you have paid the IV fees, and the money has been taken out of your bank account, you should send in the IV package. Do not wait for any emails from them. You need to print out the IV Cover page with the bar code and attach it on top of the IV package (civil documents).

Have you sent in the AOS package, yet? You should send it in, too (with its own bar coded cover page).

Thank you all very much for your replies on this issue! This really will help me a lot going ahead!

Hi Gaurav: Once you have paid the IV fees, and the money has been taken out of your bank account, you should send in the IV package. Do not wait for any emails from them. You need to print out the IV Cover page with the bar code and attach it on top of the IV package (civil documents).

Hello Mr. Ghosh,

Thank you very much for this information as I was also thinking the same that I should not wait for the email from NVC but should go ahead and submit the Docs. I am yet to send the AOS Package as I am still waiting for my 2011 & 2012 tax transcripts from IRS. For the supporting documents for the IV Package along with the online DS - 260, are the following documents all that is required or are there some more which I might be missing?

1) Bar Coded IV Cover Sheet

2) Marriage Certificate

3) Birth Certificate of Applicant

4) Police Clearance Certificate of Applicant

5) 2 copies of photo as per NVC specs

6) Two copies of the biographic info of applicant's passport

Also, can my wife send those documents directly to the NVC address or do I have to do that, keeping in mind that I live in US and she's in India? does it matter in this case?

Thank you again!

I am sorry for being late in responding. You said you are waiting for 2011 and 2012 tax transcripts. You could get them online from their website, immediately. That is what I did.

For the IV package I think you have covered everything.

1) Bar Coded IV Cover Sheet

2) Marriage Certificate and photocopy

3) Birth Certificate of Applicant and photocopy

4) Police Clearance Certificate of Applicant

5) 2 copies of photo as per NVC specs. On the back of the pictures write the name of the beneficiary, date of birth and Case #.

6) Two copies of the biographic info of applicant's passport

A good practice is to write (or put a yellow sticky note) the Case # on top right of every page. In case any paper get misplaced they can find their way back to your file.

Also, can my wife send those documents directly to the NVC address or do I have to do that, keeping in mind that I live in US and she's in India? does it matter in this case?

If she has the documents with her, she can directly send them to NVC. DHL said they can deliver in 3 days from India. Make sure that she keeps a copy of everything she is mailing. In our case, I had her send me everything early on, and when time came I mailed the package from here.

You should send the AOS and IV package ASAP. Once they get everything, your case will close in about 10 working days or less.

Hope this helps. Best wishes.
