So I haven't been on VJ for a while because I didn't want to scare anyone away with my story. But I must say that this journey has taught me a great lesson. As of right now, my soon to be ex-husband and I have been separated for more than a year. I have continued on helping him just because his daughter and I have an amazing mother and daughter relationship and we also have a 5 month old baby girl. Before he came over I had already found out he was still seeing his daughter's mom, but I forgave him and continued the relationship. That was the biggest mistake ever. He came over and yes he was faitful to me, and yes he worked hard but I was not happy. My feelings for him changed and I no longer wanted to be with him. I was completely turned off and I wanted to be out. Now, 2 years later since the initial I129F was approved, I must say it was a crazy process not worth anything. I am so grateful for my daughter, but if I could change things I would. Not all relationships turn this way but I will say to it was a learning experience. I will not let this affect me and I look forward to visiting my island with my princess in the future. Best wishes to all!! and don't be discouraged!! :dancing:

It's good to hear positive perspectives after a relationship has gone sour. Bitterness is definitely for the faint of heart. Cheers to you, attagirl! For a better and brighter future... :dancing:

Hey La Negra, when I found out, he was still in DR and the I129F wasn't even approved yet but I *thought* I was in love with him and continued the journey until he came and I realized that it was not what I wanted. So it's not the fact that he cheated on me because I have been got over that, but just the fact that I was not happy. But all I am saying to my fellow VJ members is to becareful on who you choose. It's not the same over there as over and some people once they get here change completely and feel like they deserve all you did for them when in reality they don't deserve anything. That's just how it is. :dancing:

Hey Perez525, I also suspected before he arrived to USA pero I also thought I was in love and figure everything will fade away ones we get together. It just went from bad to worst, I found messages on FB stating his intentions which led me to let go. He moved out shortly after that, i never AOS and my divorce was granted by default cause I completetly lost contact with him.... I am glad I had no kids with him. Men coming from other countries do tend to change but is because the intentions where not the right one to begin with.... I wont say that I wont do it again cause I would but I learn to be more carefull the next time and i also learn that if dont look right or feel right then it aint right! trust your gut feeling....

I congratulate you for your honesty and for the fact that you don't sound bitter at all, despite your experience. It is hard. Super hard, in fact. I have kept in close touch with three females friends who got their Dominican fiancés/husband here to the US. One is divorced, the other separated awaiting divorce, and the other one is good -but nothing is perfect. It sure is a hell of a difficult process and change of life...

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.
