Hello VJ friends. I am currently petitioning for my husband and his 5 years old daughter. I am unemployed and looking for a job. My joint sponsor makes about 400% over the federal poverty level. Will the fact that I am not working affect my case?

I just realized that since I am new at this I have no idea on how to use any quoting keys, lol. My question is: If I find a job by the time my

interview comes up it will not be an issue then?

Significantly less. Have you been unemployed a long time?

I have been "officially" unemployed for a little over a year now. I babysit here and there and I also have been going to school to get my GED. My life have changed for the better. I lost my sense of direction for while, but it is all behind me now. After getting your answer yesterday, I went into every single immigration website and asked the same question. All the lawyers that I answered said that as long as my joint sponsor meets 125% my husband, my step-daughter and I will be fine. I appreciate your help.

As you don't show a long history of unemployment and are working toward your GED, I have to agree with the lawyers. I've seen people be denied, even with a joint sponsor, because they were on welfare for most of their adult life and the CO felt the immigrants would also become a public charge. I don't think that will be your case.

I wish your family the best of luck in your journey. :)
