Hey all

Just wanted to know what the next step is.....as we received the NOA2 approval on the weekend. is there anything we need to do now, or do we wait for further instructions from USCIS?

Also, I wanted to ask..... does staying in the US until my interview date effect my visa? I am from Toronto, Canada and am currently visiting my fiancé in California. The plan is for me to head back to Toronto mid-April, but am now considering staying till my interview (if my interview is in May or June). we want to make sure that stick to rules and follow each policies properly.

Thank you for any help and advice you may have

Xo

As long as you are within your 6 month visiting period it is fine for you to stay in the US there is no problem. You just do not want to overstay as that will be really bad for the case. As far as I know you would still need to do the medical in Canada and your interview will be up there as well. You can get your medical done in Montreal a few days before your interview and get the results in time to take them to the interview. Also, when you go to the interview they will keep your passport, add the visa and send you the packet in the mail. Or I think sometimes they can have it ready for you to pick up the next day as long as you get approved. So keep that in mind when making travel plans.

Anyhow, congrats on the NOA2 and come join us on the NVC thread :)

As long as you don't overstay your 90 day tourist visa.

Also, the consulate may send you a packet after they have received your application from the NVC, and you might need to respond to that packet in order to get your interview.

Thank you so much for your advice !

I think we are going to wait to see when my interview date will be them decide if I should fly back mid-April or wait till the medical and interview. does the interview happen Toronto or in Montréal?

Also, the package NVC sends me... will that be via regular mail or a courier? are there any more forms we need to fill out and send before my interview? For example a I-134? Or do we await the package from NVC that will list what we still need to do and bring to the interview?

Much appreciated!!!!!

I am doing the CR-1 visa, so I know there are a few things that are different than the K-1. So I don't want to give ya bad info ;)

However I do know that the interviews for the K-1 are done in Vancouver or Montreal depending on who knows what?? haha. Case load, or something

Once you get your NOA2 the case will be shipped to the NVC. You can call NVC to find out when the case is received. Here are a few more links - they may be more relevant to your process. Wish I knew more!!

Links that show what requirements are needed for the K-1

Hope this helps. Good luck! :)

NVC mailed my fiance a letter saying our petition had been forwarded to the Vancouver consulate and then I received a letter in regular mail from Van telling me what to do next (basically to go their website and print off a PDF file). Not sure exactly what Montreal consulate does, but you will most likely be directed to http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet3-MTL.pdf. or somewhere similar.

You can call the NVC in a few weeks to see if your petition has been received (for your own peace of mind), but I didn't.

Cool - thanks! Makes sense....

For CR-1 they are all in Montreal. My husband is in BC so it would be sooo nice if they did CR1 in Vancouver ;)
