We have submitted the IV packet and NVC emailed us today informing us that my husband have to resubmit Form I-864, which we understood because of some mistakes in the form. However, they also mentioned that we need to submit "the traveling applicant's supporting civil documents" --- this is quite confusing because I believe that we have submitted all the documents being asked from the NVC website. I'm also thinking that it could be the police clearance. We have sent them the NBI clearance from the Philippines, which is my country of origin, however I'm still working overseas now and will be quitting my job soon. I thought we could just bring the other police clearance to the interview, as it is not so easy to apply for a police clearance here.

How long is the delay when we get RFE in NVC? Do we have to wait for another 20 days after we resubmit the forms and documents?

We hope you can enlighten us here. Thank you so much!

My husb is also a Philippine national, but living in Japan. We submitted our AOS documents ahead of the civil documents because we too were waiting on the PI documents. Our 864 got RFE'd for missing information which was actually missing because sime of the check boxes dont stay checked when you film out that form electronically and I didnt see that they were empty when I printed it to send in.

The query you got back is a standard multipurpose form it seems. If you sent your civil documents in then just correct the 864 and resubmit. I chose to send everything back with the new 864 (supporting financial documents) just to make sure everything stayed together....just make sure every piece of paper you send them has your NVC # written on it. Make sure your new 864 is the most current version. Make sure the barcode cover letter in front of all documents you send back.

I called the NVC this past Thurs for a status (has been two weeks since they got all of our documents back). They told me they can only see that they "rec'd mail from us on 2/28" and that it can take up to 30 days for our paperwork to be reviewed and done.

On my previous call to them they told me they dont consider the visa application complete until all AOS and civil documents are there, so in essence the processing doesnt actually start until they have everything.

Regarding the PI police certificate....we had to have family get both that and the NBI clearance for us. For some reason, the police cert didnt have his fingerprints nor the certification seal and signature on it (where the field actually says "not valid without fingerprints and seal"). Because of that I sent only the NBI clearance in; didnt want to create a question about a form that says is not valid and give them something else to scrutinize. Im hoping the NBI clearance is enough.

Hope that helps some.

Thank you for your reply.

I'm thinking that we can just go ahead and resubmit only the 864. I hope that will work. Prior to sending our IV packet, I have read here that other police clearance will be asked from those who have lived or worked abroad, but it is OK to just submit the NBI clearance first in the NVC stage and bring additional papers to the interview in Manila.

We submitted our AOS and IV packet together, so I'm not sure if that is why they asked again for the civil document. I hope they are wrong and just consider all the papers we have submitted.

My husband will call them again to check.

Thank you once again. Have a great day!
