Hello everyone,

I submitted the I-130 (and supporting documents) to the USCIS office in Mexico City. They emailed me saying everything was approved and the case was now being forwarded to the Ciudad Juarez office. It's been about six weeks now. Should I expect an email from them or how do they make contact? I emailed them to ask for a case number, but have not heard back.

On a separate note, me and my wife aren't exactly sure of when we'll be able to move to the US this year. Let's say, for example, when Juarez office asks us for the next round of documents (police check etc.) how long can we wait to get back to them? Can I "draw" this process out an extra few months if a need to? I do realize that once the visa is granted we have 6 months to use it, but at this point in time, I'm questioning if that's going to be enough for us.

Thank you for all your help!

Once CDJ reviews your case they will contact you to make an interview appointment. You will bring all the necessary documents to the appointment. They will approve or deny the visa during the interview. I can give you more info if you would like.
