Sent the AOS (from marriage to USC) on late March, first acceptance notification on 3/28/2014, and our biometric appointment was on 4/23/2014.... It is now a month later and nothing has changed since our i485 went to Testing & Review so we are still waiting for an interview schedule. EAD has not even changed since the first acceptance notification. We also stopped recieving texts and emails since March, and we only got physical letters around early April and that also stopped (unless our nasty ex-roommates are withholding our mail at our previous address which I hope to the heavens isn't the case) What's going on? Is the processing time longer for the Los Angeles area? I can't imagine it'd be significantly slower than other big cities like Houston or Boston... Should we be concerned

Could our cases be on hold because of an RFE? If we had an RFE would we be notified on the website as well as through regular mail? Another reason we're worried about this is because our old address has a bad reputation with USPS... they would regularly put mail in the wrong unit slot, leave packages around for others to open and steal, and litter the common area with envelopes for some odd reason. I don't know why anyone in this decade still believes snail mail is a more reliable way of sending and receiving information than e-mail especially when having access to internet is no longer a luxury but a necessity, but USCIS seems to think so :crying:

I just got my EAD approved today but no change in AP...which is what I specifically asked for. I believe it's a combo card.

If you filed for both, you may be receiving a message later today. Same thing happened to me - there seems to be a few hours lag between them. So its highly likely you are approved for both.

Congrats!

Thanks. But I have to wait till I receive the card if it actually serves as AP... My AP status didn't change today. About a week ago, I called USCIS to have my AP document expedited. It's been almost a week now. It probably made a difference, but surprisingly enough my EAD got approved. I read here that EAD approval and no change in AP doesn't necessarily mean that we get a combo card. Some got just EAD only with no mention of AP on the card. At any rate I'll find out in a week, when I'll receive my "EAD" card.

My EAD was approved (ordered production) on May 21 (received email on the 22nd), but there has been no status change. Some on this site said they received multiple emails, and sometimes their status went backwards (card production --> decision). I'm hoping I'll get a status update today.

No news on AOS interview. I'm sure it won't happen until July, which is fine...

Ayumi, I see you're in Chicago too! From what I've read, it seems like Chicago's backlogged (as you probably already know) and the time between the application being sent and the interview date seems to be around 6 months. I filed late March and am expecting an interview around late September (although I wouldn't complain if it was earlier!).

~Adjusting from F-1 Post-OPT in Chicago, IL~

3/25/14 - Day 00 - I-130, I-485, I-765, & I-131 sent via FedEx

4/22/14 - Day 28 - Biometrics completed @ 10am (Chicago - Broadway location)

6/09/14 - Day 76 - Received EAD/AP combo card in mail.

11/4/14 - Day 224 - Interview in downtown Chicago location

11/5/14 - Day 225 - Notification of GC approval!

Wow! 6 months of wait time in the Chicago area!!?? I've seen others living in the Minneapolis area who got their interview within two months time (also in California). Hope our visajourney remains uneventful.... so far the ride has been smooth (no RFEs). Good luck!

Indeed. Crazy how big cities in NY and CA are much faster than us. Check this thread out: http://www.trackitt.com/usa-discussion-forums/i130-i485/1326690209/chicago-interview/page/1
