Once and hopefully if I am approved for the K1 visa as I am now just waiting for my interview date, am I and my wife to be able to get dual citizenship of of the US and UK? I am currently seeking to move to her as she is still a student studying, but we are unsure where we would like to be when she graduates. Are we able to get dual citizenship or would I as well as her have to go through the process of obtaining a visa and then citizenship in the UK if we decided to move back to London after her studies?

Dual citizenship? Citizenship in itself takes a while to get. If you're moving to the U.S on k1 visa you'll have to go through AOS once you arrive, then you get a 2 year green card, then you file to remove conditions on green card then eventually naturalize to become a citizen. When does your fiancé finish school? It's a very long process and I think by the time she's done studying you would've both figured out where you want to live. If by the end of her studies you both decide you want to live in the U.S then yes YOU will eventually become a dual citizen not her.

However if you decide you want to move back to London then you will have to go through the process of getting her a visa there then she will eventually become a citizen then she will become a dual citizen in London.

If only it was as simple as the OP thinks/thought. It's a lengthy, expensive business but hey, worth it in the end. I apply to remove my GC conditions come the Summer but, barring any random disasters, it should be a piece of cake; the harderst parts are the K-1 and the initial GC.

There's that smell again...
