Alien # or I-94 # on back of passport photo?

The USCIS instructions for forms 485 and 765 and 130 all say that the beneficiary should write their name and alien number on the back of the required passport-sized photos. My spouse does not have an alien number. He's here on an H1B visa and has an I-94.

Should I write his I-94 number on the back of the photo? Or just put his name and nothing else?
