Hi,

I submitted my N400 6 months ago, and status is currently pending. I completed my biometrics and am currently waiting for interview. My green card expires April 1st, 2014 and I need to travel mid April. Will uscis issue an Adit Stamp on a pending n400 if I go with my biometrics completion letter and proof of submitted n400?

Three options: 1) make an Infopass appointment with the USCIS and see if they will give you an I-551 stamp in your passport, 2) complete the I-90 form and pay the fee to get a new GC--you will probably become a USC before receiving the new GC and thus have spent all that money so you can turn in your GC at the Oath Ceremony, or 3) change your travel plans until you have a US passport. You could also check with your airlines to see if they will accept an expired GC to allow you to board back to the US. The GC is expired, not your LPR status, but the airlines want a valid GC which usually means unexpired.

Good luck,

Dave

P. S. The above is based on the fact that you are applying for USC which means you no longer have a conditional GC, but a 10 year GC.

The previous poster accurately summarized your options. I'll just add that I came across a similar post a few months ago and the applicant ended up going in for an Infopass appointment and his local office agreed to give him a one-year stamp that he could use to travel.
