Hii, so this is my first time posting on here but I'm hoping someone who's already went through the K1 process can help me out. My fiance was FINALLY given an interview date and it's in March, but we don't want anything else delaying the case like a TB test or police certificate, etc.

What did the embassy require from those who went and when does each thing expire? I know the TB test has to be renewed before enetring the US as it expires within 6 months and it's already been 5 months since he did it for packet 3. What about the entire medical exam?

Do you guys recommend he do these things BEFORE they ask him or should he wait until they tell him? I'm just so tired of waiting and I don't want anything to delay us after the interview.

Thanks :)

I can only tell you what we did--not that it is the best idea :). We sent in our original medicals in August of 2013. It wasn't until December 18, 2013 that we had our interview. While on this site, there were some people who said don't get a new medical unless they ask and others who said yes, get the medical. My fiancé decided he would like to get the new medical before being asked by the Embassy. We knew that if he did that the visa would only go until six months after the medical report. In other words, he had his second medical December 8, and the visa we received expires on June 8--even though we weren't approved until February 4, 2014.

When he called for the second appointment, the doctors' offices did ask why he was renewing the medical without being asked. Needless to say, they did another medical anyway. My fiancé went to the interview, he submitted the new medical (and the lady there replaced our original one from August with the updated one), and all was fine. We knew my fiancé would arrive sometime in May, so getting the medical on December 8 wasn't a problem for us.

That being said, there is no way to know how long AP will go. It could take a short time or a long time. Therefore, if you do choose to get a new medical before the interview, there's no saying that it won't expire before approval. You never really know with the Embassy.

I know I've been reading about the AP nightmare except I'm just keeping it at the back of my mind I wanna enjoy the feeling of knowing he'll be here soon :P but that's true and I did email the embassy hoping they would give me any information but they said we'll let you know after the interview, which is not the response I was looking for as usual.

I'll talk with my fiance about possibly renewing the whole thing as well just to be on the safe side and we'll see how it goes with AP hopefully it'll be a short one :/

Thank you so much!
