When can I actually start applying for jobs now my EAD was approved?

I just checked my case status online yesterday and it said my EAD was approved and they are ordering my card! Which is awesome news, but I was wondering do I actually have to have my EAD in my hands to start applying, or can I apply for jobs now and let them know that I am only waiting for my EAD to arrive in the post (it said it should take 30 days, but they also told me my EAD would take 90 days to process after receiving my response to RFE and that only ended up taking 2 weeks!)

To what extent am I a free person right now? Haha!

The reason I'm asking is because I've actually seen an immigration officer position in my city, which includes dealing with Green Card papers and work authorisation documents!! What a coincidence! I feel like I could easily do that job so I desperately want to apply now!

Thanks guys you are the best :)rose.gif

You are free to apply for jobs. In fact you were free to do so as soon as you entered US. You cannot start the employment without EAD but you were and are free to look, apply, interview for jobs.

Btw it normally takes much less than 30 days to receive the card.

Congratulations on your EAD/AP approval! Just a word of caution though - check the requirements for that Immigration Officer job. I have a feeling you may have to have been a LPR for at least 2-3 years or be a U.S citizen.

All the current USCIS openings are only open to USCs - https://uscis.usajobs.gov/Search?Keyword=&Location=&search=Search&AutoCompleteSelected=False

(or if you have been a federal employee for 3 years)

Ah that explains it then, sounds like a paralegal position that would handle putting the packages together.
