Hi all:

I'm sending our I-129F petition off later today--we have plenty of evidence that we've met (from my own receipts for hostel bookings to his NatWest bank official stamping with a seal and initialing a statement from him locating him in the same place/date) as my train and hostel reservations. We also have photos together that are time-stamped by my computer and by facebook. But I figured the REAL cream of the crop evidence was the British Airways confirmation e-mails I received accompanied by my passport entry stamps. I did not save my boarding passes for those days because I didn't expect to actually need them--I knew nothing about this process and, what's more, I met my fiance the first time while undergoing research abroad! We just dated for the two months I was there and stayed together. I visited again in November, but we weren't engaged until January....now we have tickets booked for him to come visit me in March, too, which I'll be including in our packet -- but will the British airways confirmation be enough when paired with my/our dated receipts and passport entry?

The ONLY snag with my BA confirmation and passport entries is on ONE of the entries: before I even met my fiance, I missed my flight. They didn't send me e-mail confirmation of my changed ticket--I got a print out copy, which I later tossed--again, I hadn't even met him! So my passport entry stamp into the country is dated for June 25th, 6 days after when my entry confirmation is listed. I explain this clearly in the petition packet, but does anyone think this would be a problem? My November entry in to the country is perfect on both my passport stamp and the confirmation e-mail...plus I just have so much more evidence that we were in the same place at the same time......will this be a problem?

Thanks!

Hi Paddington,

I can't see that this would be a problem - I'm a forgetful sort and a whole set of my boarding passes were missing when we filed, though we had met other times before that. I think if you can explain it and show that you were definitely in the same place at the same time, you've met the burden of proof for meeting each other.

Is it worth contacting BA, if you're worried, to confirm that you did fly with them on a different date? I've done the same with US Airways as I got stuck in the US with the recent weather and they confirmed my flight change then. Just a thought?

Edited as I've noticed that you've actually visited twice. If you have the proof of the November entry you'll be fine, just explain the discrepancy for June and there really shouldn't be an issue.

The passport stamps are good on their own, but I would suggest highlighting/circling the stamps on the copies to point them out to the person looking over your papers. Personally, I wouldn't include the BA confirmation email for the June trip just because it might confuse the adjudicator. Your mileage may vary. smile.png

Confirmation emails/reservations are not generally considered primary evidence because one can make a booking and even pay for it, but not appear in person. While, I think you'd be fine with the passport stamps + photos, do you have credit card receipts, atm withdrawal slips, showing transactions in your fiance's town/city? That is good primary evidence also.

Yes--I have the bookings plus bank slips from both myself and my fiance for being in the same places. I have my bank slips from June-August 2013 showing my ATM withdrawals from "cashpoints" that are literally minutes away from where he lived. I have the same for my November visit, plus additional bank slips showing that I did in fact attend the hostel/train reservation in Berwick. Because I didn't think he needed to provide bank slips showing he was in the place he lived during the summer, we did get bank slips from his bank that date withdrawals from Berwick the same time as our booking. Plus we have pictures from Berwick :)

Hopefully that helps! I made it clear on the timeline that I missed my flight and only have a cash payment made to British Airways showing I paid them--but that it was for a switched ticket fee--and that my passport stamp shows accurate day of entry. Perhaps that is too convoluted? I figure you're right, though, my being in Edinburgh for the summer AND in November are both rather beyond contestation.....and either one would work. Thank you!!!

Yeah the only requirement is that you have met. It seems clear to me that this isn't really up for debate with the proof you have. If you do want the insurance policy of getting confirmation from BA, do, but you clearly entered the UK in both June and November and have proof of that, and that you were with your fiance. Think you'll be fine :D

Good luck on your journey! :D

Thank you!! I see you had a really short (well relatively short--it's never short when we are separated from our loved ones!) journey yourself moving from I129F to interview!! I can only hope ours is the same!! But thank you so much for the reassurance!!!
