Questions about my Vietnamese fiancee

I've done some reading and based on what I have read, the process to get my fiancee to the US is done through US channels. I know about the 129F petition and the procedures.

However, I've been told that I would have to file paperwork with the Vietnamese government, like engagement papers. I haven't been able to find any information to verify this. My understanding is that the process is done through the US government and there is nothing that I or my fiancee would need to do with the Vietnamese goverment.

Any thoughts?

Socald,

Perhaps you, or the person who told you, are thinking of the process for a foreigner to get married in Vietnam.

You need nothing from the Vietnamese Government besides your fiance's police background check and single certificate
