Help on I-130 Application

My husband and I have been married for almost 3 years. He recently got his US citizenship. Hence, we're filing for I-130.

My Philippine passport has my maiden name on it and now we're going to file for I-130 but I wanted to use my married name.

Should I use my maiden name on the application and just put my married name on the "other names" section or would it be vice-versa?

Since you wont be submitting a copy of ur passport yet when u file the i130, u can just use your married name on the application, then while waiting for your i130 approval, u can go have ur name changed on ur passport and other IDs. Thats what i also did.

Would also like to ask if you hired an immigration lawyer cause we are planning to hire one.

Also, how long is the process of your I-130 since I'm currently in the US with a visitor's visa? I'm only allowed til May 22nd - 6 month period.

We didnt hire a lawyer (and good thing we did not) coz our case is not that complicated, we just followed the guides found here in visajourney, plus everyone here is pretty helpful if ever you have questions.

Our i-130 was approved quickly since uscis expedited cases with beneficiaries in the Philippines due to the typhoon. I am not sure in your case though because you are there and not in PI. are u going to adjust status?
