Passport Photos - US or Canada?

Hello again VJ friends,

I have my medical exam on Monday morning at Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas' office in Toronto and I need to bring one passport sized photo... I believe it should be a Canadian passport sized photo whereas my hubbilicious believes it should be a square sized US passport sized photo. I can go and get both done and have one of each ready, but the immigration process is expensive enough without unnecessarily burning extra money.

Help please - Canadian or US sized passport photo is required for the medical? What about the actual interview (for there we are both in agreement that a square US sized passport pics should be taken)?

Thanks!!!

So far all the passport size photos that they talk about are us style. I'd vote with hubby on this one!

Yea, definately American square size is right.

BTW you can make your own passport pics. No need to spend extra money. Search the forum, there are a few threads describing how to do this exactly. I did this and didn't have any problems (so far at lesat.) It costed me 20 cents all together for 6 pix of each spouse!!! and that included shipping.

Oh, wow! Wish I had read this before going out and shelling out $23 on 4 US passport pics :((

Yep US style = 2"x2" or 50mm x 50mm.

Thanks! It is crazy expensive - almost $23 for 4 of those puppies :(

You need 3 US size passport photos for the medical. One for the examiner, one for your blood drawn in another building, and one for your x-rays. Also need 2 more US size for actual interview. For a grand total of 5 photos. If you don't have them at the medical it will hold up the process and if you don't have the 2 at the interview there is a machine to take them for you at $10 x 2 for each picture.

I had my medical on Monday, January 13 at Dr. Mascarenas' office and they only needed 1 photo. I gave the receptionist the US one I had taken the night before and asked if they required US or Canadian passport pics. She responded that it doesnt matter at all to them if it is US or Canadian and stapled it to the forms I had just completed and handed to her (along with the copy of my vaccinations and passport that she had just made). The doctor gave me 2 pieces of paper - one to hand in at the blood clinic (CML Healthcare) located in the same building and on the same floor and another one to the x-ray girl (again located on same floor of same building as the doctor's office). Neither place asked for a photo. The receptionist called me this morning to say that my envelope is ready for pick up.

You must have had your medical done in Toronto. In Montreal the medical is in 3 different places which is absolutely ridiculous. Good luck on your interview.

Really? I had mine done end of May 2013 at Medisys and it was all in the same location. I went into room 1 to talk to the dr and get the physical, room 2 to get blood drawn and room 3 for the x-ray. All within the same section of the same building. Same floor. Really I IMHO I didn't go anywhere. Wasn't like I had to drive across town or go to a whole new building or even a different floor. Of course they can't do the Xray in the same room as the dr, that requires a special machine and normally doctors do not take your blood work, a lab does that, but their lab is in the building.
