Police and birth certificate with or without apostille?

Does anybody know if the police and birth certificates have to have an apostille or be notarized? I'm doing DCF at Frankfurt and emailed them this question a few days ago. Today I received a reply that wasn't helpful at all. They just said to have a look at the filing instructions to see which documents are needed. I already know that a birth and police certificate are needed, but I'm not sure if they have to have an apostille or be notarized (the documents in our case were issued in Bulgaria).

Anybody know the answer to this question? We're going to Bulgaria next week to pick up the police certificate. Do we need to have it notarized or with an apostille?

Hi maeve808! What did you find out about the apostille? We are living in Germany and filing through Frankfurt also. The paperwork doesn't say it needs to have an apostille so I had the same question as you. I see you were already approved (with the I-130 approved just one month after filing!) and thought I'd ask what you ended up doing.

Hi FFMtoSEA! It worked for us without having the apostille on the police and birth certificates. We sent them the originals, which they returned to us at the interview.
