First, I want to thank you for all the useful information that you post. You can tell that you have done a lot of research. I have a question. I have seen a lot of information about the steps of the K-1 application and your guide is great. One thing I either haven't read or have overlooked is. Do you receive some sort of email or text from the NVC that your application has been received or do you just keep calling until you find out? Thank you

Eventually NVC will send you a letter... eventually. (Don't recommend for anyone to wait for the letter to arrive ;) )

To get an email from NVC with the MNL # follow the info in my link. I found they were pretty good about replying to my email.

Other then that you have to keep calling.

Hi Hank! :)

"...you may come to the Embassy's Immigrant Visa Check-in Counter (Window 38) on any workday in January 2014 (except on January 2 and 8, 2014; Fridays; and, on U.S. and Philippine holidays) between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. for the visa interview."

That's from the email they sent to us waiving our interview date. I'm not sure if they will resume normal operations on January 2, 2014 though.
