silly question, and generally i never have this little amount of money in my account. However, this time i do and would like to know how long others waited after receiving notification that their packet made it to Dallas - until the ETF showed up on their account? My packet made it to the lockbox this afternoon, do i have a couple of days before the check gets cashed or are they generally a little slower?? Ugh i cant believe i am in this predicament, already a problem and the process hasn't even started lol!

It should be cashed within a few days. Below is a sample of future expenses with the K1 (Dom Rep specific).

It does not include "communication costs" (phone bills/cards), traveling to see each other/hotels, gifts, etc. I remember working 2-3 jobs with a healthy bank account. This process with be costly. But, of course, it's worth it if you going to spend the rest of your life with this person.

*Expenses: (as of November 2013)

- Medical Exam = $180 USD

- Vaccines = $110 USD (optional, but highly recommended) Prices vary based on age/season of the year.

- Banco Popular Visa Application Fee = $175 USD ($160 + $15 service fee) – 2 separate payments, 2 separate receipts

- Visa Fee paid day of interview at Consulate = $80 USD

- DOMEX Courier Service to approved Visa = $ 9.50 – 11.00 USD (depending on delivery location) or ask to pick up from Consulate or Santiago.

- Travel & Hotel Expenses = Varies

Then of course, in the future after they arrive to leave here in the U.S.

Marriage costs (varies)

Living expenses (varies)

Adjustment of Status costs ($1,070+)- 2yr Green Card

Removal of Conditions (595+)-10yr Green Card.

K1 Visa Process -> 12/09-06/10 Married -> 09/10/10 AOS Process -> 09/10-12/10 Removal of Conditions-> 09/12-07/13

U.S. Naturalization -> 7/8/20

That's what I thought. A few days so I better get some dinero in there. I have no problem with the fees, just with budgeting at the moment. Just bought. $420 rt ticket to see her in january, and the costs of moving and changing jobs.i should have planned ahead better! Yes it is rather embarrassing for me ... but I will be fully able to support my wife when that time comes Lord willing. I just wanted to know if the check would likely be cashed before I get paid again for the week wednesday night.

No doubt. It's understandable. I remember going through all of this, "pre-planning" every step. Make sure you read the NOA2 thread to prepare yourself for the K1 Interview and more. If you have any questions, just ask.

thanks for the good luck :). I had a surprise withdrawal on my checking account last night which dropped me to too low of funds for the $340 check until early thursday. I am working to get that charge removed then I will be good to go. If i cant get the charge removed, I am wondering how long USCIS will wait in between attempts... say they try it tomorrow and it bounces, will they wait until the next day to try again? Or are they just sitting there trying it three times in a row?

I am not sure to be honest, but I think they address that in the payment part of the application....
