Scheduling the interview at the London Embassy

Hi. We're a little bit confused. I filled out the DS-160 online and had previously scheduled the medical (10 December). The state.gov website instructs what to do next:

After you have completed the DS-160, you must take these next steps below:

• Print and keep the DS-160 confirmation barcode page. (You do not need to print the full application.)
• You must schedule a visa interview appointment. (The U.S. Embassy or Consulate does not schedule an appointment for you.) Visit the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website where you will be interviewed for country-specific instructions.;
• Pay the visa application processing fee. Review country-specific instructions on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website.

I've been to the UK website for the US embassy and followed the link to schedule an interview. Having created an account and entered the required information, I proceed to the page to arrange the interview, but I'm met with this:

Enter the exact Consular location and date from the appointment letter you received from the National Visa Center (NVC).

I'm confused. I thought the Embassy does not schedule an appointment, hence having to register online. Will I receive and appointment letter?

If anyone could shed some light, we'd be grateful as we cannot pay the visa fee.

The state.gov site is giving general information, not embassy specific. You can't schedule your own interview with the London embassy - they'll schedule one for you once they've got the last of your forms (be that the DS forms or your medical results, whichever is last).

Have you sent back your DS-2001? It's submitted online these days. Medical results take 4 working days to arrive, so assuming no issues with yours, they should get that by the 16th December at the latest.

You'll get a letter (we call it "Packet 4" on VJ for historical reasons). Usually turns up about 6 weeks after they've got all your stuff.

Thanks lost_at_sea. We don't need to fill in the DS-260 (online replacement for the DS-2001), but we have filled out the DS-160 as the K1 process is a non-immigrant visa. The link to the specific page for the London Embassy is very useful. The process requires I email the Embassy that I am "interview ready" ( I do have ALL the documentation required), but there is no email address supplied on the right hand side of the page for contact info, just an address. Any idea where I might I find that?

Eh? Your first sentence doesn't make sense. The DS-260 doesn't apply to you, and it isn't a replacement for the DS-2001.

You need to do the DS-2001. Read the link again above, and follow the link under the bit about the DS-2001 where it says "Read more" and then an obscene number of ellipsis - you'll eventually get to a form you submit by following the final link on the subsequent page.

Why they say "email", I have no clue, because you don't email anyone - you submit a form (it likely sends an email to someone in their office, but it's daft to say that to the users).

Can I ask when did you schedule your medical? Did you wait until the case was in transit from NVC or when you got your case number?

I phoned the medical practice and arranged my medical once I'd got the new case number. Our application is still in transit from the NVC to London (it left there on 21 Nov, but still not arrived!!!!!). Hope this is useful.

Thanks TAB2TAB! We are excited as our case only spent 2 days in NVC and as of today 12/4 is "in transit." But yours still has not arrived? When is your medical appointment? Best of luck!

Curious how you know it didn't arrive in London yet? Have you tried the DHL tracking trick? It looked like a bunch of cases were sent on Nov 21 and arrived on Nov 25. Maybe there was more than one batch leaving that day or it takes time to get logged in?
