Hi everyone,

I have a few questions about certain item numbers on form I-130. Here they are below. Please help!

Item 10. Do I need to include my old alien registration number if I already have become U.S. citizen. I think I should leave this blank. Am I correct?

17. Do I need to put my name on the list of family members of my husband? I think I should leave it blank, because I am a petitioner, and I am petitioning for my husband and his relatives, for example, his children, if he had any. Or, if I was petitioning for my brother, I would put there the names of his spouse and children.

So, in my case, because my husband does not have any children, I leave this item blank. Is that correct?

22. This should be left completely blank, because my husband is not in the US. The part where it says “If your relative is not eligible for adjustment of status, he or she will apply for a visa abroad at the American consular post in…” should also be left blank because it is only concerns people currently living in the US who, for whatever reason, are not allowed to adjust their status inside of the US, and who will have to travel outside of the US to apply for an immigrant visa.

But because my husband is not in the US, I should leave item 22 completely blank. Am I right?

That's all. I would greatly appreciate your help!

10. It should be on your Naturalization certificate.

17. Here you put your name.

22. You leave the AOS side blank coz your husband is not here. You put the name of the city where the US consulate is located in your husbands country where he will goto to get the stamping done.

From what I understand, and from looking at the old forms, it's clear to me that you should leave item 22 completely blank. But some other people on the forum have a different opinion.

10. It should be on your Naturalization certificate.

On my Naturalization certificate this A# is called C

17. Here you put your name.

10. On my Naturalization certificate this A# is called CFS Registration number. I don't think it's the same as Alien Registration Number. If I am US Citizen, I am no longer an Alien. Isn't that true?

The same dilemma I have with G-325a form. Right in the top right corner it has a box File number A...., apparently prompting for an A#. Do I fill it out? And then at the bottom, in the signature lane there is a box Alien Registration number. It is very counter-intuitive and confusing to me. I would really like ot hear more opinions. Why US citizen should be asked for an Alien Registration number?

You can leave it blank. It should not matter coz you are a citizen now.

But every naturalized citizen will have a A #.

That question is kind of confusing and should have been split as A and B in the form.

Anyways if the beneficiary is not in the US, then they need to fill the consulate city and country where he/she is living. This is where the NVC will send the interview information.

The two parts are part of one big paragraph, and the bold text above the paragraph applies to the entire paragraph. Since the relative is not in the U.S., none of the question applies.

If the relative is not in the U.S., the NVC will send it to the consulate based on their address.

Anyway, I don't want to argue over this but just wanted to say that not everyone is in agreement about it.

Thank you! This is a very clear explanation.

Would you mind answering my question regarding item 17 on form I-130? Here's the quote from the top of the thread:

"17. Do I need to put my name on the list of family members of my husband? iamwhatiam80's answer is good. It asks for the current spouse and children of your relative. So you are the current spouse and must be listed. If he had any children they would also need to be listed.
