Hey all, so I have my interview on november 7th (yay) and I wanted to get your wisdom on a couple of things

Firstly, I was reading another thread and they said that the interviewer wasn't happy with their passport, mine is several years old and well used, would it be wiser to get a new one before the interview or will it be fine? Its never had a problem at customs but the thread has got me nervous

Secondly, Is the confirmation letter required, as the embassy seems to have problems getting letters to me (thanks royal mail), I do have a confirmation email etc direct from them, not sure if they require it or not as its not on their list of documents

Cheers!

They want to see the letter when you are in line outside. Explain and show the email as a substitute. Even with nothing, the guy at the head of the line will have you name on the list and let you in.

Passport is a guess. I have known washed in the washing machine and with suntan lotion on it rejected. The thread you read, is it the one with the photo? If the edges are that worn, then probably so. If not that bad then probably okay. It depends on how much trouble and money to get a new one. If you will be due a new one soon, it is cheaper to get it while ther rather than order from the US.

yeah, I had a look at that thread and mine is worse, to save risk I've booked the 1 week passport service, going up tommorow, hopefully they said they would boost me to the day service if I explain the situation. Glad to hear about the letter, for some reason they just can't get my address right :(, I was worried that without the letter I might not get into my appointment

IF your passport is in the least bit tatty it'd be a good idea to get it replaced, they do seem rather particular about the condition of them. Its good to have one less thing to worry about.
