It does not always seem the easiest task to figure out when a yes answer is required to the question about "mental disorders" on the ESTA.

So questions for anybody with some kind of mental health issue...:

- Have you ever been advised by a US immigration official to answer "no" to that question?

- Have you ever answered "yes" and then applied for a tourist visa? What was your experience with that?

- Have you traveled on the VWP, then later applied for a visa (eg immigrant visa requiring medical exam etc) and been questioned as to why you traveled on VWP in the past?

It seems like it's kind of up to the applicant to decide if it is likely that their condition will cause real harm in the future.

Immigration officials will never tell you either to answer yes or no….legally and technically they cannot tell ppl what to answer.

I am not aware of any immigrant visa for medical reason, mainly the B1/2 is given for someone wanting to travel for medical reason.

Also it matters what country they are coming from for example if someone from UK / Australia are seeking medical visa chances are they would be denied as they are not going to get any special or extra medical help in US which they cannot get in their home country.

If the individual can justify that the medical treatment he is seeking is not available in his home country and only available in US than chances are higher of him getting a medical visa.
